Superbike, Pirelli German Round, Race 2. After the extraordinary victory in Race 1 with Chaz Davies, the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team had a complicated Sunday at the EuroSpeedway Lausitzring.

The heavy rain that fell on the circuit before the start of the race, in fact, shuffled the cards.
Starting after two postponements, 40 minutes late, over a distance of 16 laps, it was a Race 2 full of twists and turns, with Chaz Davies finishing in sixth place, while Davide Giugliano crashed and had to retire.

Really a shame for the Roman driver, who stood out in the early stages, climbing from eighth position to the
second place: after setting the fastest lap, Giugliano however crashed at turn 9 during the fourth lap. Unfortunately for him, the fall was not without consequences: a fracture to his right shoulder blade is suspected, which will be subjected to further tests.

Disappointment also for Davies, who seemed headed towards another leading race after setting the best time in the WUP in dry conditions.
The Welshman fought tenaciously, demonstrating coolness in managing the constantly changing asphalt conditions, but unfortunately he was never able to stay with the leaders.

At the end of the tenth round, Davies and Giugliano find themselves respectively in third (295 points) and sixth (194 points) place in the world championship standings.

“Conditions today were treacherous. It took me a while to find my rhythm, but the priority was to stay standing and I'm happy to have crossed the finish line because I didn't have the right feeling on the front" – said Chaz Davies
– “It's a shame that the weather turned its back on us, but we were all in the same boat. What matters is that we confirmed the progress made in the latest tests. Probably, in dry conditions, another victory would have been within our reach. We'll try again in two weeks at Magny Cours, with second place in the championship in our sights."

“I didn't expect the crash, because I understood that Rea and I could make a difference in the wet and I wasn't at the limit” – said Davide Giugliano – “My plan was to wait for the race to reach the final laps and then attack. I was partialing the throttle, but in the wet it's always a lottery, and suddenly the tire lost grip. It's really a shame, because I wanted to give the team another important result after Chaz's victory. The positive thing is that today we had also made a step forward in the dry, keeping a good pace in the warm-up. We'll do it again at Magny Cours, a track that I like better."

“Unfortunately today the weather affected us negatively. Our potential in the dry was not in question, we could have taken full advantage, but the rain shuffled the cards"
– said Ernesto Marinelli, Superbike Project Director – “It's a shame about Davide's fall, who is always very competitive in these conditions. Chaz drove a rightly conservative race, picking up important points. However, the certainty of the progress made during the summer break remains, and we await Magny Cours with confidence."
