Superbike, Gaerne Spanish Round, Race 1. The Althea BMW Racing team today concluded the first heat of the 12th round of the season, on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, with both drivers in the top ten: Torres in eighth and Reiterberger in ninth position.

Engaged in the Tissot-Superpole 1, only the Spaniard managed to get through, thanks to the fastest lap set in 1'41.264, while the German with the third time (1'41.528) was unable to compete for the front rows on the grid.
Torres, who was doing well on race tyres, then closed Jordi's second qualifying heat in seventh place, with a personal best lap of 1'40.111.

In the first laps of the race, Torres had a good pace and was in sixth position. In the second half of the scheduled laps, however, he began to lose ground due to tire wear, and finished eighth. Reiterberger, who started from the fifth row, started well and recovered three positions already at the end of the first lap, up to ninth position which he managed to maintain, thanks to a constant pace until the checkered flag.

“We had two good Superpoles, both the first and the second. The race was held in warmer conditions, but we managed it well I think” – he commented Jordi Torres – “I started well and tried to be nastier in the first laps. I was careful when I saw some crashes, but I tried to stay with Hayden, who was immediately in front of me. After six or seven laps however, the front of the bike started to close and as a result I had to change my riding style to be able to stay upright. Tomorrow we want to change something to make the front tire last longer.”

“My start in the race wasn't bad and I immediately recovered a couple of positions, but then I had to push hard to stay with the riders immediately in front of me, who had a slightly faster pace than mine. There were some crashes during the race and so I was careful not to make any mistakes” – he said Markus Reiterberger – “I fought to finish in the top ten and the ninth final position is not bad, even if we certainly need to improve. We will continue to work and look for some solutions in tomorrow's warm-up, which can allow us to complete a better second heat than today.”
