Superbike: Haslam wins the Tissot-Superpole at Magny-Cours

The Englishman slips but remains ahead of Rea, with Canepa third. Sykes disappoints only in ninth

The penultimate Tissot-Superpole of the season saw Leon Haslam secure first place for tomorrow's two 21-lap races at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.

For him it was the second pole of the season, the third in Superbike, obtained despite the rain having shuffled the cards and caused numerous crashes, including that of HasLam himself.
After setting the best time and on the restart after a checkered flag, caused by the fall of Alex Lowes, the Aprilia rider launched himself towards another fast lap, aware of having to secure pole from the attacks of the new WorldSBK Champion Jonathan Rhea.

Thrills at the end when Rea, having reached the last sector with a three-tenths advantage, was unable to take advantage of his opponent's exit, finishing just four thousandths behind him: a very small gap, especially in wet conditions.
Completing the front row will be Niccolò Canepa (Althea Racing Ducati).

Those of Haslam and Lowes were just two of the excellent falls of this heat: Chaz Davies and Sylvain Guintoli, fourth and fifth respectively at the end, also lost control of their respective bikes, and Tom Sykes, who crashed highside at the corner 13, who will start from ninth position, behind Luca Scassa and Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), who qualified through Superpole 1, and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia).

Markus Reiterberger (VanZon Remeha BMW), Lowes and Jordi Torres will start from the fourth row.

See you tomorrow morning at 8am with the warm up.
