Superbike Germany: Davies gives a boost
The BMW Englishman narrowly beat Sykes in the first qualifying
They made it clear on the eve of BMW and Chaz Davies that they wanted to do well on this circuit and in fact the first qualifying round at the Nürburgring is their business. For the blink of an eye though, because immediately behind them is the usual Tom Sykes on the Kawasaki who will obviously make life difficult for everyone this weekend too.
Perhaps regenerated by the holidays, Michel Fabrizio confirmed himself among the fastest with the RSV4 of the Red Devils team.
Fourth was Suzuki's Leon Camier, followed by Jonathan Rea's Honda Pata and Sylvain Guintoli's Noale Factory.
Loris Baz on the ZX-10R slipped to seventh place after a good performance in the morning, while Leon Haslam moved up on the CBR1000, gradually feeling more and more comfortable and with his leg no longer hurting.
The other Aprilia official Eugene Laverty remains delayed, as does Marco Melandri who seems to still need to get to grips with the track with his S1000 RR.
The other two top Italians did poorly. Davide Gugliano on Aprilia Althea twelfth and Ayrton Badovini of Ducati Alstare fourteenth. Boxing mate Carlos Checa is out of the 19, victim of a fall without consequences.
