Together with the unexpected rain, the German Superpole brought with it another novelty, Ayrton Badovini in pole position for the first time in the category. The young man from Biella was really good at avoiding mistakes on the slippery asphalt which instead misled many colleagues, thus giving the Ducati Alstare a reason to smile after the disappointing performance of Carlos Checa, who was not even able to take part in the session having finished the qualifying in eighteenth place.
Marco Melandri on the BMW S1000, reborn in the wet, had to give up in the lead for a long time in the final minutes, while the third Tom Sykes on the Kawasaki ended up upside down missing the chance to aim for the top.
Behind him was his colleague Loris Baz from whom we actually expected more, being a magician in these conditions.
The two Pata Hondas also showed no great performance, with Jonathan Rea ahead of Leon Haslam.
Slightly less in form than the last rounds, Chaz Davies with the other BMW, seventh, followed by the official Arilia of Sylvain Guintoli who preferred not to take risks, by the Suzuki of Jules Luzel, victim of a fall and Max Neukirchner with the 1199 of the MR-Racing.
Eliminated in the first phase were Leon Camier's Suzuki, Eugene Laverty's Aprilia, never at ease until now at the Nürburgring, and the private cars of Michel Fabrizio and Davide Giugliano.
