During the ninth round of the Championship, which took place in Laguna Seca last weekend, Race 2 was interrupted twice following as many accidents, one of which involved the young French rider of Team BMW Motorrad Italia.

In fact, during the first restart, after a few laps Sylvain Barrier fell while exiting the last corner, after perhaps hitting Christian Iddon, and was dragged along with the bike towards the pit wall.
There is great fear about the dynamics of the accident: the condition of the Frenchman, already the victim of a serious car accident with associated head trauma, kept everyone in suspense.
Fortunately, Sylvain, who never lost consciousness, was diagnosed with "only" a fracture with dislocation of the left subtalar joint, caused by the impact against the pit wall.
On Friday morning he will undergo surgery to reduce it.

The French driver should be able to be present at the next round, the tenth of the season, scheduled for 5-6-7 September in Jerez de la Frontera.
