For the World Championship of production derivatives, this will still be a year of great changes, not so much from a technical point of view, where the most important changes will arrive in 2017, when the programming to which enthusiasts were now accustomed.

During the winter break, Dorna confirmed that starting from the championship which will begin on February 27th at Phillip Island, the races will no longer be held on the same day one after the other, but Race-1 will be held on Saturday and Race- 2 on Sunday, both scheduled at 13pm.
According to this new format, on Friday the riders will be engaged as usual in the two free practice sessions, while on Saturday for a third test and the Superpole at 10, the fourth session is cancelled.
The war up remains confirmed on Sunday morning, immediately before the Supersport race at 11am, while the Superstock will start at 20pm.

In all likelihood, Dorna's "plan" wants to give more excitement to Saturday, the interest of which was linked exclusively to the Superpole: the two Superpole heats and subsequently Race-2 will, in fact, make the day adrenaline-filled, bringing more spectators closer to the championship .
The organizers should also take advantage of it, given that there will no longer be frenetic Sunday mornings with two heats, podiums and press conferences, but by spreading the events over two days, there will be an entire weekend full of events.

To appreciate the new format we will have to wait for the Australian round at the end of February.
