Under a beautiful sun and decidedly summer temperatures, the two days of official Superbike testing began today at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve: the objective of all the teams present is to continue the development of the bikes in view of the final rush of the championship .

Among the main accredited teams we have Kawasaki Racing, Aprilia Racing Team, Ducati Superbike and MV Agusta: we will therefore not see Voltcom Crescent Suzuki, Red Devils Team Roma and Pata Honda on the track, with Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam engaged in the Suzuka Eight Hours in Japan , together with Michael van der Mark, current leader of the Supersport championship, and Lorenzo Zanetti.

The EVO class is represented by David Salom (Kawasaki Racing Team), Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki) and Alessandro Andreozzi (Team Pedercini Kawasaki).

This Monday's session began at 14 pm, local time, under the sign of Tom Sykes who once again demonstrated great determination and at the end of the day was not only the fastest but also the most active driver on the track, with 00 laps completed.
Behind him with the second time we find Sylvain Guintoli, who finished a tenth and a half behind, and Davide Giugliano who set the third best time, albeit with a gap of eight tenths.

New father Marco Melandri fortunately escaped unharmed from a high-speed accident also in the afternoon, which unfortunately ended his Day 1.

For the EVO category, the fastest driver was once again David Salom, leader of the standings: for him a 1'45.048s.

Good news for the MV Agusta Reparto Corse: Claudio Corti was declared fit to take to the track and was thus able to regain feeling with his bike after the crash in Portimao during the eighth round of the championship.

The second and final day of testing will begin tomorrow at 9:00 local time.
