The FIM Supersport World Championship returns after a month, in fact traditionally only the production derivatives take to the track at Lagua Seca, to face the eighth round of the season at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli: an event that could be very important on a global level.

Only 19 points separate the top four riders in the standings: Sandro Cortese (Kallio Racing) heads into the start as leader by only two points, thanks to two victories this year.
The experience in Moto2 and Moto3 will certainly help him on a circuit where he boasts 11 appearances and one success in 2012.

The German driver's first direct pursuer is Jules Cluzel (NRT) who has been very consistent this season, finishing on the podium in the last five races and winning two in a row: in Misano the winner took pole, a circuit and race record, as well as to have triumphed in 2014 and 2015.
Randy Krummenacher (BARDHAL Evans Bros. WorldSSP Team) is third in the general classification, after three complicated races: the last podium dates back to April, on the Assen circuit, however, he has always finished in the top five and this consistency takes him to a position favorable in view of the second half of the season.
At Misano he achieved two eighth places in WorldSBK and a fourth in WorldSSP.

Raffaele De Rosa (MV Agusta Reparto Corse by Vamag) has so far been the only non-Yamaha rider on the podium, four consecutively: it is easy to imagine that the Italian rider is aiming for victory on his and the team's home circuit, also driven by cheering from the audience.
