Among the familiar faces that we will see again in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the next round at the Luasitzring, there is Markus Reiterberger.

The German will race in front of the home crowd among the ranks of the Van Zon – Remeha BMW team, driving a BMW S 1000 RR.

WorldSbk.com caught up with Reiterberger to gather his impressions on the eve of a very important round for him.
Below we report the full interview.

Welcome back to WorldSBK! First of all: how do you feel and what have you been doing since you left the championship after the first races?
I feel very good. I have kept focus on my health and training and I am not only participating in the German championship, but I am also doing a lot in Enduro and Speedway. After my “delay” I am now riding a lot and I feel good on the bike again. My lap times and results in the German championship are on the right track, I'm fit and I'm looking forward to racing with WorldSBK.

You've had intense preparation ahead of the Lausitzring weekend and you'll be riding your motorbike. What are the technical specifications of this BMW?
Thanks to the sponsors of the Van Zon – Remeha – BMW Team and the support of BMW Motorrad, we were able to create this bike. Our team in the German championship – including mechanics, engineers and so on – is world class and was able to prepare the bike in the best possible way. In four weeks of preparation you don't invent anything new, but we have a good package.

What's your weekend goal?
We have little experience with the technical part of the bike and we only had two days of testing. If I finished in the top 10 I would be happy, we just want to show that we can push using our experience. Most of all I would like to have fun this weekend.

Do you plan to attend any more WorldSBK races this year?
Initially there was the idea of participating in more races as a wild card, but at the moment I don't know anything. If we can find some additional sponsors to invest in our project, then it could be possible.

Is a possible full-time return to WorldSBK in the plans? Do you know anything about next year?
Obviously my goal and biggest priority is to get back to racing full time in a world championship and WorldSBK is my dream. I believe in myself and our potential, but to race in the top five, everything has to be in place. With my manager Werner Daemen we are working hard towards next season, as soon as everything is in place we will make an announcement.

Looking back: Do you still think you made the right decision by leaving WorldSBK during the season?
At that point it was the right decision. I'm happy right now and with what I've achieved so far. I feel good, I have gained a lot of experience in recent years and now I can prove it. In every race since I joined the German championship I have given everything, this is our aspiration: to work at the highest level, whatever the series.
