It was also a complicated start for the second race of the twelfth round of the season, scheduled for Jerez de la Frontera: shortly after the start, as happened on Saturday, the race was interrupted after less than one lap by the red flags displayed following an accident involving three pilots.

Chaz Davies, Eugene Laverty and Schmitter hit each other, with the latter having the worst of it and being taken to the medical center for checks, while the Welsh Ducati rider left with the group and Aprilia's Irishman from the pit lane.

The race restarted 15 minutes later with a quick restart procedure, over a distance of 19 laps, after two warm up laps to check the track conditions.
Jonathan Rea immediately took the lead of the group while behind him Davies and Melandri put on a show, battling with Van der Mark in second, who then progressively lost ground until finishing in sixth position, and then between them for the two podium positions.
The winner was Marco Melandri who at least partially made up for the great disappointment of retiring in Race1 while he was in the lead, followed by Chaz Davies who today wasn't as perfectly at ease on the bike as his teammate.
Rea achieved an amazing one-two in the race and thanks also to Tom Sykes' fifth place, Kawasaki can also celebrate the constructors' title, after celebrating the team title at Magny-Cours.
An extraordinary result for the World Champion and for the Japanese Manufacturer, demonstrating the technical but also mental supremacy of men, as Rea rightly recalled yesterday.
At the foot of the podium we find Alex Lowes with Yamaha, followed as mentioned by Tom Sykes in fifth position and his teammate Michael Van der Mark.
Seventh position for Xavi Fores with the Ducati of Barni Racing, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli who was the author of a truly consistent weekend, returning to the Championship with the Kawasaki of Team Puccetti, and Tati Mercado with the Aprilia of Team IodaRacing.
Jordi Torres completes the top ten with the BMW of Team Althea.

The race of the two Aprilias of Team Milwaukee was unlucky: Lorenzo Savadori suffered a fall during the first laps after the second start, got back on the bike and finished 18th, while Eugene Laverty retired probably due to the problems caused by the accident in the first go.

Next appointment in Losail for the Acerbis Qatar Round, an evocative night event, scheduled from 2 to 4 November.
