SBK | GP Misano Race 1: Locatelli, “Rear problem, there was nothing else I could do”

SBK GP Misano Yamaha – Andrea Locatelli finished Race 1 of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, fifth stage of the 2023 World Championship, in twelfth position.

For “Loka” it was a day to forget: the red flag Superpole saw him start from P11 on the grid and he was unable to find a good feeling with the lack of rear grip from start to finish in Race 1.

“The feeling was so good in qualifying and honestly, it was a good opportunity to start from the front because the potential was high. But today was a bit unlucky, especially with the second tire because we found a lot of smoke in Sector Three in the fast corner, so we lost the opportunity when the stewards gave the red flag. So we couldn't improve our time and had to start eleventh. During the race, I don't know what happened today, but I managed the race with a big slide on the rear and no grip. Every lap I did the same lap time and I couldn't do anything else, I tried to push but it was really difficult because from start to finish everything was the same. I don't know what happened, it was really strange because the goal wasn't to win the race but to do much better than that. Yesterday the pace wasn't bad, so today it really feels like drama. I'm a bit sad for the team because we always try to push for a good result, but tomorrow we'll try again."
