SBK | GP Barcelona Race 2, Bassani: "Rinaldi arrived directly at me"

SBK GP Barcelona Kawasaki – Axel Bassani did not finish Race 2 of the Barcelona Grand Prix, second stage of the 2024 world championship.

Through a frank and in-depth assessment, Bassani reflects on the challenges encountered during the Superpole Race and the main race. Despite the improvement in sensations compared to the previous day, Bassani recognizes the need to work hard on both the front and rear of the bike to improve the feeling and competitiveness. While expressing disappointment at some losses in position during the race, the Italian driver remains determined to pursue success and looks forward to the next round in Assen with optimism.

“The Superpole Race was good but it's difficult to recover positions even if we have 20 laps available. With ten laps in the Superpole Race it was practically impossible. We lost some positions in the last laps. It wasn't easy but the sensations were better than yesterday. We will definitely have to work a lot with the front, but also with the rear because I don't have a good feeling. But it was better. In Race Two the feeling was really good even at the end of the formation lap, because we had changed something. I made up some positions in the first three corners, so I managed to occupy ninth position and then I would manage my race to arrive in a good position at the end. But Michael Ruben Rinaldi came straight at me and that really disappointed me. It's a shame because I think today we had the chance to stay with Alex, with Johnny, and try to get to seventh or eighth place. It wouldn't be bad for us. We will start again from Holland and see what happens."
