SBK | Geico US Round, Race 2: Gagne shines in front of his crowd

The home race galvanized Jake Gagne (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) who showed off two good performances in both heats in front of his fans at Laguna Seca, finishing in tenth and ninth place respectively: an important result if we consider who until now had never finished a race in the top ten.

Gagne was the best Honda rider this weekend: “Our goal was to get back into the top 10 and we achieved it! I had a couple of good races, solo actually. Starting so far back on the grid was complicated here, especially in the first laps. I didn't get a great start at the traffic lights, but I'm happy. We made a lot of progress over the weekend, the Fireblade gives me good sensations. Getting a good result here is fantastic for everyone” – commented Jake Gagne.

Gagne's first year in WorldSBK was full of problems, but now the American feels he is on the right path: “At the beginning we had some complicated rounds which made things difficult for us, also I made some mistakes during the season . But I learned a lot during this time. I'm having fun and I'm trying to proceed step by step” – he added Jake Gagne – “I have changed my riding style compared to when I came here last year. With these Superbikes there are many things we can change, the electronics, the chassis, the suspension. There are many differences, so I'm learning how to set up the bike, how to tackle the weekends and understand what the priorities are to go faster."
