The level of development of the Yamaha project was evident to everyone already in the winter tests: the R1 immediately seemed significantly more competitive than last year and it is no coincidence that the first victories arrived.

After Van der Mark's extraordinary one-two at Donington, Alex Lowes dominated the second race of the Acerbis Czech Round in Brno, thus obtaining his first victory in the top series derivative championship.

Lowes had a great start and responded well to the pressure from the riders behind him, managing the YZF-R1 on a slippery track.
The English driver is obviously very satisfied and proud of the victory, with which he feels he has repaid those who had faith in him and worked hard to get him to the top step of the podium.

“I feel great: the team worked hard to give me what I wanted on the bike. Yesterday I was a bit disappointed because we could have been on the podium, but we missed it. Today we made some changes, the bike was working very well. It was difficult to have fun when the bike was moving a lot, but I did a great job and I'm very proud of what we achieved" – he declared alex lowes – “The R1 engine is very powerful when the grip drops, so I'm surprised that we had problems in slippery conditions, but today the bike was going great. It's nice to reward the kids for the work they've done."
