Stefan bradl he closed the German GP, his home race, in 16th place after leading in the very first laps. The Cecchinello rider who started from the front row, at the end of the two reconnaissance laps, decided to change the tyres, while all the other riders in the first places changed bikes starting from the pits. Bradl thus found himself alone in the lead, but his bike was certainly not set up at its best, having put dry tires on the bike with the wet setup. Thus the home idol was caught up in a few laps and went from first position to 16th place. Big disappointment for him, especially if you consider that here last year he came 2nd behind only Marquez.

“Just before the start it started to rain – said Stefan Bradl – and after two reconnaissance laps I decided to take off the rain tires and put on dry ones because I thought the track would dry quickly. Initially it seemed that our choice was the right one, but unfortunately when we changed the tires on the bike we had problems changing the fork, as the time to make the change was very short. So I started with the bike with the wet setting and dry tyres, so it was really a gamble. Then when I saw that the other drivers were starting from the pit lane, I thought that I had made a mistake by not doing the same thing. I was three seconds slower per lap because my setup certainly wasn't the best. Now I'm truly speechless, it was the worst way to end my home GP, but I thank the many fans who came to the circuit to support me"
