The Qatar GP will certainly be the most challenging of the season due to the very high temperatures, just think that in qualifying the MotoGP riders took to the track with the thermometer recording the air temperature of 41° and the asphalt temperature of 55°.
Despite the heat, the team's effort paid off with both riders on the front row. Colin Edwards, the fastest of the morning, confirmed himself as the most consistent in qualifying and finished second, three tenths from Ruben Xaus' provisional pole while Sete Gibernau concluded qualifying in third position.

COLIN EDWARDS (2th, 2'01”617): “I have to compliment the organizers for the work done, the structures are impressive and the track is also beautiful, I like the track and the asphalt is also smooth, without dips. Being a new circuit for everyone, I knew that this could work in my favor because since my SBK days I have always learned new tracks quickly. This morning we worked on the bike's set up, making various changes and tire tests. Once we found the right balance, the track was also much easier to interpret. This afternoon we found a good setting and I have a good feeling with the bike, I think we are working in the right direction and that we can further lower the time by at least one second."

SETE GIBERNAU (3st, 2'01”882): “It's a new track for everyone where we don't have any reference data. However, I am satisfied with this first day of work, we are working in the right direction and we have a good basis that allows us to work with safety and tranquility. I have to thank Michelin who is helping us a lot and the technicians are making a great effort to support our work.
I'm confident for the race, after two difficult races I'm back to having fun and this is the most important feeling.”

FAUSTO GRESINI (team manager): “This is a new circuit for everyone and it will certainly be a very challenging GP. The first day of testing was very positive for both drivers, provisional front row for them and tomorrow we can improve further."
