MotoGP: Sepang Test, Romano Albesiano takes stock after the first two days
Satisfaction with Alvaro Bautista's performance, Melandri struggles more
Aprilia MotoGP – Romano Albesiano, head of the Aprilia racing department, took stock after the first two days of MotoGP testing on the Sepang circuit. There is satisfaction regarding the new RS-GP, which with Alvaro Bautista (in the photo, ed.) is going beyond expectations, while it is struggling with Marco Melandri, who has the say.
“The first outcome of these tests is certainly positive. I won't focus too much on the stopwatch, it's not what we're looking for now, but the sensations are encouraging. These two days are consistent with a competitive season that we have faced a year in advance, and which we know will be oriented towards the development and refinement of a competitive prototype. Considering that the new RS-GP is taking its first steps, Alvaro's performance should be considered very positively. His comments on the driving sensations are also decidedly encouraging, having not indicated any real weakness of the project. The new bike therefore has wide margins for optimization and improvement. Alvaro confirms himself as a fast driver, and as we expected he has a positive attitude which favors work in the garage. Marco is continuing his apprenticeship, objectively with a few more difficulties than expected. But we know Marco and his approach well, and we are doing everything we can to make him comfortable in this new technical situation."
