MotoGP – Sepang Test Day 3 – Jorge Lorenzo very fast
With the Michelin qualifying tires it goes like a dream. Jorge Lorenzo allows himself the luxury of finishing the three-day test in Sepang in third position, ahead of none other than his new teammate, Valentino Rossi. The two-time 250cc world champion remained at very high levels with a 2'00"766, very close to the previous track record (beaten today by Nicky Hayden), immediately at the level of the usual protagonists of the top class. However, not everything went well for the Majorcan: engaged in a race simulation, Jorge made a mistake by flying to the ground, thus interrupting his pace advisory 3/4 of the way through. There will be a chance to make up for it from February 5th, when the Fiat Yamaha team will return to Sepang for the final tests before returning to Europe with the IRTA Tests in Jerez.
“Today was a positive day for me: there were encouraging tests and I am satisfied with what we achieved”, says Lorenzo. “This morning I had a bit of problems, I felt less grip than usual and we worked on this. While attempting a race simulation I slipped towards the end, and unfortunately I had to stop this type of test early. It's a shame because the pace wasn't bad. In the afternoon however, having been riding a Michelin for some time, I did well, and this is important for me because I'm there on the single lap. I hope to reconfirm myself in the next tests".
