Aleix Espargarò produced a great performance in Sepang today. The Forward Racing rider in fact achieved the fifth best time aboard the Yamaha FTR, making him the first Open rider. His time of 2'00.547 is only six tenths higher than Marquez's, while Jorge Lorenzo is even behind him. The word is up to him.

“I'm very happy because this morning I managed to lap one second faster than yesterday and this happened with relative ease. Of course, there is still a lot to do because I not only have to learn more about the electronics, but also adapt my riding style to the new bike, to make the most of its potential. Today we worked on the chassis and tried five different tyres. Tomorrow we plan a long run to better understand how the bike and in particular the electronics behave in the second part of the race.”

His team-mate Colin Edwards finished a little further back, having not yet managed to exploit the full potential of the new bike.

“We continued to work on the setting of the bike both at a chassis and electronics level. The bike has great potential, but it still doesn't ride as I would like. However, I am confident because we are working in the right direction."

It must be said that Espargarò set very great times on the flying lap, but then the pace is not that of the first 3, Marquez, Lorenzo and Rossi, these in order the best as I passed in the first 2 days.
