The last time Alvaro Bautista was in Sepang he was struck by an illness that prevented him from riding on the third and final day of testing at the beginning of February. Today the Suzuki rider was able to lap regularly, closing the day with the tenth fastest time, not an excellent time but still good. With the team he worked a lot to make the hard tire "work", something he hadn't managed to do previously. The word is up to him.

“I feel much better today than the last time I was here. It wasn't so nice to shoot then, I wasn't physically well due to illness! Today I wanted to ride calmly and concentrated on the details. Also, last time here in Sepang we really struggled to use the hard rear tyre, so we did a lot of laps with that today and made some progress. Then, finally we put some softer tires on, the same one I used in the race last year and the feeling was really good and it was very easy to lap in the low 2.02s. We didn't set an exciting time but we improved the bike, especially when exiting corners, where I feel more comfortable. I can't wait for tomorrow to push harder.”
