MotoGP – Losail Test Day 1 – Nicky Hayden: "I had never seen rain in Qatar in my life"

Nicky Hayden concluded the first day of night testing in Qatar with the best time. The American Ducati rider, like his colleagues, had to deal with the rain which first greatly delayed the start of the tests and then did not allow the riders to express the full potential of their bikes. Hayden therefore hopes that tomorrow there will be good weather to be able to work as hard as possible in view of the opening race of the 2009 world championship which will take place on 12 April. “I had never seen rain in Qatar in my life and I never thought I would see it! However, today we barely had time to put the wheels on the track when it started to rain. We had to stay in the pits for a long time also because while most of the track dried out after a while, part of it remained damp for a long time. The asphalt conditions were not at all easy and did not offer clear feedback and this obviously did not allow us to do what we had planned. We have several things to test and fine-tune so I hope the weather will be good tomorrow so we can work as best as possible.”
