The Forward team took to the track today in Jerez with a new, unreleased pair, Aleix Espargarò e Simone Courses, who tried a MotoGP for the first time. Espargarò ultimately finished in 8th place while Corsi lapped with higher times, but that's normal, as it was the first time he had been on a car like that.
Aleix Espargaro continued the development of his Forward Yamaha by focusing on the electronics set-up and tire wear. Overall, forty-one laps were completed with a best of 1.39.797.
Simone Corsi replaced teammate Colin Edwards and participated in the day of testing to get familiar with the new bike. The Roman Moto2 rider has good sensations as he completed forty-five laps today, bringing his speed to 1.42.333. This day of testing was also organized because if Corsi finishes in the top 5 in Moto2 this year, next year he will be the one to replace Edwards.

“It was a very positive day at work – said Aleix Espargarò – We focused on fine-tuning the electronics to be able to better face the next races. We have collected important data and the chronometric time is also good. In the afternoon I took to the track with the second bike: I need to continue working on the setup considering that I haven't been on this bike since the double accident in Qatar."

“It was truly an incredible day, a beautiful experience – added Simone Corsi – Getting on a MotoGP bike is truly special. I completed forty-five laps to try to gain confidence with this bike and I'm satisfied. There are many differences with the Moto2: the power, the greater acceleration and the electronics. The physical effort required is also different and for this reason I preferred to concentrate all the work during the morning. Thanks to the whole team for this great opportunity.”
