MotoGP | Brno test: Lorenzo, “I will never be able to use this bike 100%”

MotoGP Test Brno Ducati – Jorge Lorenzo, after the podium at the Czech Republic Grand Prix, closed the official tests in Brno with the fifth fastest time behind his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso.

During the day, the Majorcan tested the 'new' chassis that his team-mate has already been using since the Assen GP and remained quite satisfied with it. Overall the bike has improved a lot, but the Spaniard's words reveal a lot of regret. Let's remember that at the end of the season Lorenzo will leave Ducati to start a new adventure in Honda and, with only 9 races left in the season, he doubts he will be able to exploit the GP18 100%.

These are the words of Jorge Lorenzo released to Sky's microphones: “Unfortunately I will never be able to exploit this bike 100%, mainly because it is not a bike with which you can corner and lean a lot and it never will be in these nine races that remain at the end of the season. If I had continued at Ducati we would certainly have improved a lot in this aspect. But I have to adapt to the bike we have, so brake hard in corners and exploit the power in acceleration and it will be like this until the end of the season. I have also improved a lot in tire management by changing small driving details to save some energy and this makes me more competitive.”

The new chassis has been promoted, but the comparison work will continue in Austria: "The new chassis has many positive points and some negative points, but we need confirmation on a different track, so in Austria we will have a bike with an 'old' chassis and one with the new one and we'll see if it goes better there too."

For the next race, Ducati is the favourite, but Honda is very close: “The other houses have improved a lot. Last year Honda suffered in acceleration while this year they have improved, we still have a bit of an advantage but they are very close".
