MotoGP Qatar, Day 1: Aleix Espargarò “It's a really great start”

Aleix Espargarò took the Yamaha FTR Open ahead of everyone on the first day of testing for the Qatar GP, the opening race of the 2014 world championship. The Spanish centaur made the most of the tests carried out here two weeks ago to regulate the competition. He was fast with both the soft and hard tires and this gives him hope. The goal is to fight for the podium.

“It's a really great start: being at the top of the standings is a great feeling. We had an advantage over the official riders, having tested on this track two weeks ago, but I am satisfied because I managed to be fast with both the hard and soft tyre. I'm sure that tomorrow everyone will improve, but we also have margin. We will continue to work hard with the aim of fighting for the podium.”
