Seventh time at Phillip Island today for Carlos Checa, who found the weather conditions the biggest problem that hindered his work on the set-up. The continuous rainfall has in fact made it difficult for him to make choices regarding tires and set-up, not to mention that the new regulation quite limits the choice of tyres. Even the data collected in the previous tests in January were of no use to the LCR team rider, as on that occasion the temperatures were decidedly higher. There is no reason to be surprised, therefore, if the Catalan hopes for a dry track for the next few days. The word is up to him.

“The main problem we had today was the weather. In this cold and in these unpredictable conditions, it is not easy to have the correct sensations both on the bike and with the tyres. We tested here in January with the highest temperatures and as a result, the information we obtained then was of no use to us. With these temperatures, only the softest compound works well and in this case the regulations place quite a few limitations. Regarding the set-up, we need to improve in the corners, especially when opening the throttle in the faster ones. At this moment, I would prefer the track to be dry because in the wet we have set-up problems.”
