Randy de Puniet achieved the fifth fastest time on the first day of free practice at Phillip Island, scene of the sixteenth stage of the 2007 MotoGP world championship. The transalpine Kawasaki rider (and next rider for Team Honda LCR) is therefore satisfied with the behavior of his ZX-RR 800cc and even if some problems remain he is still confident for Sunday's race. He has the microphone.

“This afternoon I ran about 15 consecutive laps with the same rear tire and my times were quite good. I'm in fifth place at the moment, which isn't bad but, with a new tire I feel I can immediately improve by half a second. The bike runs fine. Today we worked mainly on tire choice because we don't know what the conditions will be in the race, which makes the situation quite difficult. However, if we do qualifying in the wet tomorrow, we will be ready for the race on Sunday in all weather conditions. We had a bit of movement at the rear but nothing serious; We have this problem every year but it's a problem that all drivers have. The chassis is fine: we tried different settings and I'm satisfied; in any case tomorrow we will be able to improve the bike and the lap times even further, I'm sure of it.”
