MotoGP – Phillip Island Day 1 – Casey Stoner: "Not completely satisfied"MotoGP – Phillip Island Day 1 – Casey Stoner: "Not completely satisfied"

Casey Stoner only achieved the second best time behind Valentino Rossi in the first free practice session of his home Grand Prix at Phillip Island. The Australian Ducati rider, who turns 24 today, did not say he was completely satisfied due to a set-up that was difficult to find in particular track conditions.

"To be honest I'm not one hundred percent satisfied with today's session. The track conditions were not good and throughout the session we suffered from a lack of traction, which is normally one of the strong points of our bike. We tried a series of different settings, one of which improved the rear "grip" but in return made the bike less effective in corners, where before it was really performing. However the front is stable and goes well so it's just a matter of improving where we need to so we can really push the bike to the limit. Here the weather is always an unknown and even today, towards the end, it started to drizzle just as I was starting one of my last "runs", so I returned to the garage. It was just the moment when I was more comfortable with the setup, and maybe I could have done a better time, but I'm not too worried because I think it was a busy day for everyone. "
