MotoGP Mugello: Jorge finishes only 8th, "I don't have the right feeling on the front at the moment of maximum lean angle"
The Spaniard also complains about the little development made by Ducati
Italian GP MotoGP GP – after a start which also saw the Spaniard in the lead in the first laps, Jorge Lorenzo he slowly lost positions until finishing 8th, just ahead of the wild card Michele Pirro. The problem lies in the feeling at the front in the middle of the corner, and also - according to Lorenzo - in the little development done on the bike.
“It was very positive that Dovi won today – he commented Jorge Lorenzo – because it raises the morale of the team who are working very hard. Unfortunately, as far as I'm concerned the new setting has been giving me problems since yesterday, amplifying my current problem. In the center of the corner I can't be as fast as I would like, I don't have the right feeling on the front at the moment of maximum lean angle. Today many riders overtook me on the inside - Zarco, Vinales and Rossi - when usually I am the fastest in the category in that situation."
After the podium in Jerez did you think you had found a winning basis or did you expect these difficulties?
“Unfortunately it depends a lot on the circuit because unfortunately the bike hasn't changed since Austin to today, except for small details. So the track makes the difference: I felt good in Jerez, not here; You have the opposite. Maybe things will change again in Montmelò."
Today you started out very strong and then went into crisis, why?
“In recent years I have always had a good start and great speed in the first laps compared to the others. I then decided to take advantage of this advantage but I already knew I had a slow pace on the high 1.48. As the temperature rises the problems increase and I do what I can with this bike. I need to find the right direction to get to ride this bike as you require."
