MotoGP Mugello, Free Practice 1: Marquez in the lead ahead of Pirro, many crashes
The Honda rookie is the best of the first free practice session, behind Valentino Rossi
The first free practice session of the MotoGP class at Mugello was held in difficult weather conditions. At the beginning all the drivers took to the track with rain tyres, then someone "risked" the slicks, which at the end were mounted by almost all 25 drivers.
The fastest at the end of the session was Marc Marquez, who brought his Honda RC213V ahead of everyone with a time of 1:56.506. The Honda rookie also crashed at the end of the session, a harmless crash.
Second time for Michele Pirro, Ducati test rider, who races here as a wild card. The rider from San Giovanni Rotondo finished 398 thousandths behind Marquez and is ahead of Stefan Bradl's Honda by just 93 thousandths.
A good start for the former Team Gresini rider, who also has the "laboratory" bike here, a bike he hadn't used at Le Mans, where he replaced the injured Ben Spies, here on his return. The climatic conditions have "favoured" some CRTs. In fourth and fifth position we find the ARTs of Karel Abraham and Yonny Hernandez, who preceded Bradley Smith, Nicky Hayden, Dani Pedrosa, Cal Crutchlow and the aforementioned Ben Spies.
There were many falls, in addition to Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso and the Came Iodaracing Team CRT riders Lukas Pesek and Danilo Petrucci also ended up on the ground (without consequences). Valentino Rossi closed the session in nineteenth position, while his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo was fourteenth. An uphill start for the Pesaro player, who here at home would like to give great satisfaction to his fans.

It will be better if ROSSI retires at the end of the championship and goes on a superbike, maybe we will be able to see some good races, because here I see him as very opaque and hopeless. Now he has lost faith in any bike and is too afraid to push and fail again..look at MARQUEZ only a madman could push in these track conditions, the result: and first,..so ROSSI lacks that madness that once disappeared with the arrival of old age..I would really like him to do one nice race here in MUGELLO but I'm afraid I won't be able to get to the podium, I just hope I'm wrong...GO ROSSIIIIIIIII !!!!!!!!!!!!
…uncertain time…I would wait with the sentences…
This is a circuit where madness is best left at home, this afternoon Marquez risked his life or paralysis and was lucky, Mugello is a track that does not forgive mistakes and madness, Rossi knows it and also the riders who have already lapped there especially with these asymmetric tyres.
They ran hard in FP2 for a second free practice with ambient and asphalt temperatures.
It's about 10 degrees less than last year and despite this I'm only 2 tenths away from last year's FP2 time.
We need to see what will happen with higher temperatures, when the Hondas give their best and the Yamahas drop because they probably heat the tires too much.
this morning no one pulled... except those who, having not yet ridden here with a motogp, needed to collect data...
see Marquez…Pirro…
oh god...maybe Pirro toured there...even a lot...but not with the others
