“I was very fast and very strong in practice, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed to only finish sixth in qualifying. I had some problems this afternoon, but the most important one was that the front brake discs were overheating. There are many points where you have to brake hard on this circuit and the temperatures of the discs are the highest recorded in the championship. We had to change records during the session and that cost me some time. This could play a very important role in tomorrow's race because we will have to do 24 consecutive laps at full speed, and I still believe that I will challenge for the podium because I don't think I did a single good lap. I don't think sixth place is a true reflection of my potential, but it's great to see Yamaha so strong again. This is a very important race for Yamaha here in Japan and it would be great to finish on the podium."
