MotoGP Motegi: If the "bad" weather persists, qualifying and race on Sunday

The weather will "plan" the Japanese GP, the penultimate stage of the 2013 world championship

MotoGP Motegi: If the "bad" weather persists, qualifying and race on SundayMotoGP Motegi: If the "bad" weather persists, qualifying and race on Sunday

The press conference in Motegi has just ended where possible programs for tomorrow and Sunday were discussed. As written in the previous news, the weather and above all the fog canceled the first day of testing for the Japanese GP, the penultimate stage of the 2013 world championship.

There were no safe conditions for filming as the helicopter would not have been able to take off in an emergency. Everyone therefore agreed to first postpone and then cancel today's tests.

The scenarios for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are various; the forecasts say that there will be bad weather on Saturday too and in the event that it is not possible to run tomorrow too, everything could be "moved" to Sunday, tests, qualifying, warm up and race. In fact, the forecasts indicate a clear improvement for race day and this solution could become the best.

However, if tomorrow morning we were to still be stationary but in the afternoon the conditions were there to ride, there would be 75 minutes of free practice for the MotoGP class.

Among those most directly interested is Jorge Lorenzo, who, having 18 points to make up on compatriot Marc Marquez, cannot "afford" to skip the race. The Majorcan spoke today saying that he is in favor of doing everything on Sunday, he has the say. “It's a shame not to have been able to do even one lap in front of all these fans. If tomorrow the situation remains like today's, the solution could be to move everything to Sunday. We could move the warm up, do free practice and then qualifying and the race. It would be a real shame not to race.”

The Majorcan underlines that today there were no conditions for racing “We have to look at safety. Without the helicopter we can't go around, we can't push our luck. If the helicopter fails again tomorrow we will be forced to remain still. Since the weather doesn't promise anything good, the solution is to do everything on Sunday."

After last Sunday's Flag to Flag race at Phillip Island, we could see another novelty, this time not due to the tires but to the weather.

But would only MotoGP start and not the minor classes?

Well in my opinion these conditions ultimately favor the Hondas indirectly, I believe that in some tests they ran in the rain, maybe not with Stoner but with their testers for sure.

But does it always rain in Motegi this year? Stoner had already had problems, not being able to fully exploit the 2 tests done there with the Production and the 2013 official ones.
