MotoGP 2015 Motegi Free Practice 4 – Jorge Lorenzo also set the best time in the fourth free practice session of the MotoGP class. The four-time world champion, after dominating FP1, FP2 and FP3, was however closed by Valentino Rossi, who closed the session in second position at 0.175s.

The seven-time Top Class champion then made up ground in a session in which the riders tested in race trim, a race that the weather forecast announced would be wet.

Marc Marquez follows the Pesaro rider with the third fastest time, 0.198s from the top. The reigning Honda champion, fresh from surgery on his left hand, which was fractured while training on a mountain bike, precedes the Yamaha of the British Bradley Smith and the Ducati of Andrea Iannone.

The rider from Vasto is therefore fifth, 0.290s behind Lorenzo and ahead of Dani Pedrosa's Honda by 0.167s. The other Desmosedici GP15 follows, that of Andrea Dovizioso from Forlì, which precedes the Suzukis of Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Vinales and the Yamaha of Pol Espargarò.

Danilo Petrucci on the Pramac Racing Ducati GP14.2 set the twelfth fastest time, just behind Scott Redding and ahead of wild card Takumi Takahashi.

Big scare at the beginning of the session (suspended with the red flag), when Alex de Angelis lost control of his ART, ending up against the guardrail that runs alongside one of the straights of the track between turns 9 and turn 10. The driver of Iodaracing remained motionless on the ground and initially lost consciousness, then recovered. He was then transported to hospital by helicopter for further checks via CT scan and updates will follow on him in the next few hours.

Dr. Zasa of the Mobile Clinic commented as follows: “The pilot initially lost consciousness, which he already recovered while on his way to the medical center. For privacy reasons I cannot be more precise, the rider will now undergo further visits to the hospital. After the updates, the CT scan and everything else we will release news on his conditions."
