MotoGP – Misano – Race ended on the second lap for De Angelis

Alex De Angelis didn't expect to end his home Grand Prix in this way. The San Carlo Honda Gresini rider actually crashed during the second lap of the race on the Misano Adriatico track, after a less than happy start which saw him involved in a "collision" with Marco Melandri's Ducati. Great disappointment for the San Marino driver, who commented on the incident like this...

“I'm very disappointed with today's race because I started well and could have had a good race. Unfortunately on the straight Melandri overtook me, and at the next corner we touched, following his sudden braking. At that point we lost ground to the group of riders in front of us. In an attempt to remount I lost the rear and the bike threw me into the air; to hold on I touched the brake lever, the steering closed and I slipped".
