Jorge Lorenzo dominated the Aperol Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The reigning Yamaha champion, on the track with the new seamless gearbox, took command of operations from the start, without ever relinquishing the lead of the race. An unsustainable pace for all of him, even for the Honda riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, who finished in order behind him.

Not even Valentino Rossi could do anything, fourth at the finish but more than fifteen seconds behind his team-mate. With this victory Lorenzo repeats his success at Silverstone, reducing the gap to the Honda rookie to 34 points.

This is also his third consecutive victory at Misano, a track where he has always finished on the podium in the Top Class. Perhaps we expected more from Rossi, but at the moment the top three seem truly elusive. Stefan Bradl, Cal Crutchlow and Alvaro Bautista finished behind Rossi. The first Ducati is that of Andrea Dovizioso, eighth and ahead of his team mates Nicky Hayden and Michele Pirro. Fifteenth and sixteenth place finish for Danilo Petrucci and Claudio Corti, Italian CRT riders.

Race report

Thirteenth stage of the 2013 season for the riders of the MotoGP class. It runs at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, theater of the Aperol Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera. Yesterday in the fifteen minutes of the "time" attack, world championship leader Marc Marquez prevailed, also author of the new record lap of Misano, which belonged to Casey Stoner. In the front row with him are the Yamahas of reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, who use the new seamless gearbox.

Second row for the second Honda of the internal HRC team, the #26 of Dani Pedrosa. The Spaniard will have next to him Cal Crutchlow on the Yamaha SAT of Team Tech3 and the next Ducati rider and the amazing Aleix Espargarò, riding the ART Aprilia of Team Aspar.

The third row is made up of the Honda of Stefan Bradl's Team LCR, that of Alvaro Bautista's Team Gresini and the first Ducati, that of Andrea Dovizioso. Tenth, eleventh and twelfth time for the Ducatis of Nicky Hayden, Michele Pirro and Andrea Iannone, while the Italian riders with the CRTs are Claudio Corti, eighteenth with the FTR Kawasaki of Team NGM Mobile and Danilo Petrucci nineteenth with the Ioda Suter BMW of Came Iodaracing Team. Everything is ready for the race, 28 laps to go (for 118.328 km), the traffic lights go out, the fastest at the start is Jorge Lorenzo, who got off to a great start and ahead of Pedrosa, Marquez, Aleix Espargarò and Valentino Rossi.

Bad news for Team Aspar, jump start in fact for Espargarò, who will have to go through the pit lane; the Spaniard's match was compromised. In the meantime, Rossi had overtaken him, moving into fourth place.

The first lap ends, an incredible lap for Jorge Lorenzo, who already has a greater advantage than the second. Behind him Pedrosa, Marquez, Rossi, Espargarò (who however will have to serve the penalty), Crutchlow, Bradl, Bautista, Iannone, Smith, Dovizioso, Hayden and Pirro.

Lorenzo continues to hammer out fast laps, bringing his lead above two seconds. Meanwhile, Andrea Iannone's race ends, having fallen without physical consequences. Another race to forget for the Pramac Racing rider from Abruzzo, in a season that did not give him satisfaction.

Marquez meanwhile tries to attack Pedrosa, but he goes wide and Valentino Rossi takes advantage of it, now third with his M1 equipped with the new seamless gearbox. The first Ducati is that of Andrea Dovizioso, eighth and ahead of team-mate Nicky Hayden and tester Michele Pirro.

Lorenzo's advantage is now two seconds and 5 d
tenths on Pedrosa, while behind Marquez he drops back to Rossi. Cal Crutchlow and Stefan Bradl are further behind, over eight seconds behind. While Lorenzo is racing himself, Rossi and Marquez are gaining on Pedrosa. Attack from the world championship leader, who overtakes Rossi to regain third position.
Now the next target is his team-mate #26.

Having reached the halfway point of the race, let's recap the top ten positions. Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Marquez, Rossi, Crutchlow, Bradl, Bautista, Dovizioso, Hayden and Pirro. Danilo Petrucci and Claudio Corti, the two Italians with the CRTs, are in thirteenth and seventeenth position respectively. The penalized Aleix Espargarò is now in fourteenth position.

Super attack by Marquez, who in the change of direction at the end of the finishing straight "overtakes" Pedrosa, moving into second position. A maneuver that deserves a "replay" and should be shown in track driving courses! Now between the world championship leader and victory there are 2"930 that separate him from Lorenzo, but Pedrosa isn't giving up for now. Overtaking by Pedrosa, but Marquez isn't having it and a few corners later he's back in front of his team-mate. The duel between the two standard bearers of the Repsol Honda Team was splendid.

Last km of the race, Lorenzo is firmly in command and goes on to win his second consecutive race, the fifth of the season, which certainly without the injury in Assen first and then at Sachsenring could have taken a different turn. On the podium with him the Honda HRCs of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, followed at a distance by Valentino Rossi.

It seems that they saw Valentino Rossi paying at the Misano toll booth…. yes 10 seconds from teammate… Mr second in the wrist….
Today the wall would serve you to hide...

...don't listen to the sic, it's been pissing him off since the beginning of the championship...it was he and his Apulian teammate who saw Lorenzo worried, Marc inexperienced and Dani a loser...now he's like Rossi's lobotomized dad, who he claims that his son is working for next year...and Mediaset also agreed with him...they've all lost their minds, speechless!!! Changing the subject, as long as it is of interest to someone, perhaps a passionate one like our n75, around 23.00 pm there will be a repeat of a nice program on Italia2, Dunlop Moto Academy... many things are known but others could be interesting to newbies or to people who they want to delve deeper into aspects of riding, both on the road and on the track, maintenance, settings etc... by the way, motorcycling enthusiasts, who among you has followed the supersport? You won't tell me that you were all waiting for the victory of the prodigal Rossi and you missed wonderful races like the ones broadcast on Italia2? Since you all understand (in words)... at the next race, this time I won't attack the nurse, the facts and words of his father are enough... as well as some fundamentalist posts on the forum ahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!

In today's fantastic race some confirmations and some small regrets:

Confirmation1: Lorenzo is a much bigger champion than can be seen with the naked eye.
Confirmation2: Marquez is pure spectacle and the man of the future of MGP
Confirmation3: Electronics, as they have invaded and continue to invade the technology of these bikes, do not allow us to realize the actual, objective values between riders of different generations: Rossi the oldest, Lorenzo the middle one, and Marquez today and tomorrow , they learned to race and were or are equal champions in terms of the value of their exploits, but on ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY different vehicles

    1. W_il_Sic said:

      not comparable.

Confirmation4: Stoner never fails to reiterate his acidity: he declared that he doesn't like Marquez because it seems like he only races to humiliate his opponents! But is it possible?????
Confirmation5: The most relevant! yet another confirmation that all of Ducati's troubles of the year before and two years ago...all Rossi's fault! Ahahahahahahahahahahahah

      Small Regrets:
      1. Not being able to see duels between Stoner and Marquez, I'm sure Marquez would give him a beating.
      2. At Misano, Marco's absence is always a little more painful than usual...

Wonderful match, especially for the values on the pitch.

Lorenzo SUPER. Find the winning move in the warm up, say hello to everyone and give everyone 1 second from the first lap!
    FANTASTIC!

Marc…Very mature, nice overtaking. I wonder... If he can do these things with his bike now, what will he do when he has 1/2 more seasons on his shoulders?

Pedrosa…. Too bad, either he quickly finds the determination he had in the second part of last season (and in the first part of this year, before the shoulder injury), otherwise the fight for the title will be between Marc and Lorenzo (like now).

Rossi. She simply doesn't have it to stay with the leaders... Too bad it was her home GP.

Cal.. Well done to bring home a 6th place, considering his physical situation.

Small note, the owner of the NGM team said live that Espargaro has signed for them (next year they will have the M1 PR, i.e. Magneti Marelli electronics, frame, forks, swingarms and engine of the M1 that Cal currently uses, but they will have to be built their fairings and chassis to be used next season).
With a laughing Espargaro who tried to deny it (to no avail).

Ducati…. I went to read the sponsor's statements after they were mentioned by Mediaset….

Yep... It's all Rossi's fault... With Dovizioso making it clear that he also thinks like the sponsor (there's a lot of buzz around it, but that's the gist).

I remember that the new bike was supposed to arrive in THIS race, but that MAYBE we will see it in the Sepang tests. The laboratory version (yet another!!!!) of this bike will run in October (MAYBE) with Pirro…

I don't think any further comments are needed on the matter...

Next year's non-factory M1s (the 1 M2013, no nonsense) will be beautiful beasts... if they get the software of the control unit right, they can take advantage of the 24 litres, 4 more than the factory ones, greater speed in a straight line, more engines, livelier engine settings... we'll see some good things, with espa, and colin looking for revenge... . we'll see some good ones... ;)

The M1s will be those of the Tech3 team adapted…

And I think that in making this adaptation they will change a little something.

Everything will be provided only for 2014…

With FTR which in addition to the fairings will also make a frame/swingarm for these bikes.

        From 2015 only engines.

Next year the team will not have the 12 engines as per the regulations...In the price agreed with Yamaha the engines will be 5 (if I remember correctly, but I have to check) with 3 revisions...

If you want the other 7 you pay...

I don't think the values will change much.

        Obviously, better than CRTs...

But the real surprise will be Aprilia, with the bike it is designing…

However much criticism can be leveled at Rossi, this time he tried for about twenty laps, then gave up, but at least he tried, either because he was at Misano or because the Seamless brought something.

In my opinion, Rossi seemed faster here, because partly he was, and partly because Pedrosa and Lorenzo were less fast in practice.
Perhaps Rossi and Marquez focused too much on the tests and not too much on the race.

Marquez without the errors would have been about Lorenzo, who made the difference as in the last GPs in the first laps and thanks to a very efficient change in the warm up and also thanks to the Seamless, he took the Yamaha to victory.

In my opinion, given the progress of Marquez's world championship, which is so similar to Lorenzo's last year, he will have no problems winning with the results he is obtaining.

There are 5 races left and if Marquez doesn't finish third as usual and Lorenzo or Pedrosa don't win repeatedly for the world championship there's little that can be done.

  • Stonami77 said:

If Lorenzo maintains this attitude on the track it is not a given that the world championship will go to 93... 34 points with only 5 races to go are an excellent haul also considering Marquez's consistency... it will be 5 heart-pounding races...
Today Jorge was monstrous, it's interesting to see how with a totally different ride from the Honda riders and in particular from Marquez he manages to be damn fast... Marquez is sensational but today and the other race he had to suffer the class of the Spaniard, unfortunately Dani for him he doesn't have the aggression of his teammate nor the determination of jorge even being extremely regular and very fast but those two have an edge...also he always has his fair share of bad luck with injuries...it's a shame because yesterday Stoner and Lorenzo, today Marquez and before Rossi always finds himself taking them...
Rossi does what he can...he wants to win again and puts in his 100% effort but the other 3 are head and shoulders above in terms of speed...and his teammate (with whom the comparison is always the most truthful) it dominates everywhere... it was over... at least it seems dignified...
PS: In my opinion before the championship ends there will be a twist….

    1. Mephistius said:

Excellent analysis. I don't understand the thumbs down.
However, I hope that the twist isn't an injury (let's cheat). It would be a pity !

it's because of the nickname..and the enemies of sworn forums..but that's okay..I still have fun..

      2. Stonami77 said:

Not an injury but a misstep on Marquez's part... this alone can put the ball in the center between him and Jorge... obviously let the best win and no one will be fooled but it is obvious that with the current progress of the races between the three Spaniards the one in the best position is Marc...congratulations to him...but...
