Mugello was one of the most difficult weekends of 2013 for Marc Marquez, who in addition to the many crashes in practice (including a truly bloody one at the end of the finishing straight) fell in the race a few laps from the end, when he had just overtaken his team-mate Dani Pedrosa, who was in second position. This year he arrives with a very different state of mind, he has in fact won the first five races of the season and is aiming for his sixth victory on the Tuscan circuit.

On his way he will surely find a more combative Valentino Rossi than ever, fresh from second place at Le Mans and who would like to return to success in his home Grand Prix, something that hasn't happened to him since 2008 (he won consecutively from 2002 to 2008).

“It will be tough to beat Valentino Rossi at Mugello – said Marquez – It's his home Grand Prix, he will push hard and it won't be easy to beat him at all. This and Barcelona are two tracks where I struggled last year, so if we can't fight for the victory we will have to take as many points as possible. From the outside it all seems easy, but from the garage the situation is completely different."

“There are still 25 points up for grabs – added Valentino Rossi – but racing and winning at Mugello has a completely different flavour. It's a special weekend, one of my favorites. Yamaha has won in the last three years with Jorge (Lorenzo, ed.), so it should suit our bike well. It will definitely be tough against Marc and Honda, but we have to try.”
