MotoGP – Losail Race – Andrea Dovizioso: "Great satisfaction with the podium"
Great satisfaction for Andrea Dovizioso in the inaugural race of the 2010 world championship. The rider from Forlì of Team Honda Repsol actually finished the race in third place and during the race he also battled with Rossi for first position. He accomplished his masterpiece on the last corner of the last lap when, coming out stronger, he managed to overtake Nicky Hayden's Ducati. The word is up to him.
“I am very happy with this podium and it is a great satisfaction. It was very important to start the season with a good result and I hope this is just the beginning. Today's podium is the result of the hard work carried out by Honda, the technicians, the team and myself during the winter. I have to thank Honda, Repsol and all the sponsors for believing in me even when the results weren't coming. Today, in fact, I really believed I could get second position and it was a shame not to be able to hold it until the end. My start wasn't great, but the first five laps were fundamental for me to recover positions and catch Valentino (Rossi). My Honda was very fast on the straight and I was able to use this advantage to compensate for our weaknesses on the track. I can say that I lost the race at turn 10. We fought with T3 all weekend but tonight I understood that we lost a lot at turn 10. When Valentino overtook me I tried to let him pass again, but he overtook me again and then I didn't have the chance to return. I did a masterpiece in the last corner of the last lap where I overtook Nicky (Hayden) on the inside and then used all the power of the RC212V to get on the podium. Tonight I raced with my heart, and the result is a good motivation for me and everyone in the Repsol Honda team.”
