MotoGP – Losail Day 1 – Andrea Dovizioso: “I was very excited”

Andrea Dovizioso closed his first free practice session as an official rider for the Honda Repsol Team in Losail with the eighth fastest time. The rider from Forlì was very excited, in fact the charm of the official Repsol colors is always felt and in his opinion it was even more exciting than when he made his debut in MotoGP last year. His best time was 1'58.506, 1.453 behind leader Casey Stoner. In the 45 minutes available, the former Team Scot rider covered 86 km, equal to 16 laps, encountering some problems which he will try to resolve for him with the team. The word is up to him.

“I was very excited this evening, it was my “first” as an official in HRC on the RC212V, so I was even more excited than last year, when I made my debut in MotoGP. It's a great feeling. Racing at night is fascinating and I like the start of the season in Qatar. I'm currently pretty confident. We have improved things since the last tests in Jerez and today everything was prepared for the race. With only 45 minutes available there is less time to work on the bike and we had to change our working method to make the best use of the session. We still have some problems with the bike but I'm confident. Now my team will try to make further adjustments tomorrow.”
