Loris Capirossi in an interview given to the Gazzetta dello Sport said he was satisfied with the results obtained in his first year as a safety consultant for the world championship. Capirossi, who retired at the end of 2011 (and is pictured in the recent Valencia tests, where he also tested several MotoGPs) worked closely with Bridgestone, with the tires under attack in 2011 for a series of accidents, including the one that cost his life to the late Marco Simoncelli.

“I'm proud of the work done on the tyres: this year no one got hurt due to a tire that wasn't up to temperature – he told Gazzetta dello Sport – Bridgestone worked well and I pointed them in the right direction. It's not over yet: in 2013 we will have tires made specifically for CRTs, and perhaps there will be news regarding the number of tires available to everyone."

Capirossi then continued by saying that work is also being done on other aspects. “We are working on small but important details, for example on the front brake lever. Not everyone was convinced, but I spoke to the pilots. We try to understand the problems and solve them. We also work on the riders' clothing, we no longer want to see damaged suits or helmets.”
