"Our opponents are fast" added the Frenchman
MotoGP GP Qatar Yamaha Monster 2021 – Fabio Quartararo closed the first day of free practice at the Qatar Grand Prix, the first stage of the 2020 MotoGP, with the third fastest time.
The Frenchman from Yamaha closed the first free practice session with the fourth fastest time, just under 3 tenths from the top. In the second round the #20, thanks also to the soft tires saved in the first round, managed to improve further, stopping just 188 thousandths from the top.

“I'm happy to finally do our first laps of the 2021 season. We didn't run with the best tire option in FP1 because we had to save the soft tires for later, for the right time. We tried something in the first heat of FP2 that I didn't like, but it's nice to have been able to try it. Now we know. It was also nice to do the two time attacks at the end. It was tough, because our rivals are fast, but I'm happy to have done two excellent laps. There were some small mistakes to improve on, but overall I'm happy with today.
