MotoGP GP Portugal Repsol Honda – Joan Mir closed the first day of free practice for the Portuguese Grand Prix, second stage of the 2024 MotoGP, with the 19th time.

Despite relentless effort, Mir acknowledged that performance had not reached expectations, attributing the difficulties to low track grip. However, with optimism and a work-focused mentality, Mir has set the goal of closing this performance gap for the following days, confident that the improvement will be a direct consequence of the conditions on the track.

“We are working hard and I hope that tomorrow, with better track conditions, we can do more. I honestly expected more from today and we are struggling more than I thought. When the track grip is low I think we lose a little more than our rivals, so the aim is to close this gap tomorrow: we will improve as the grip improves. We continue to work and I am sure that improvements will come."
