MotoGP | Gp Mugello Race: Immense Petrucci, first career success [VIDEO]
The rider from Terni wins in front of the home crowd, with Marquez and Dovizioso on the podium
MotoGP Italian GP Race – An immense Danilo Petrucci won the MotoGP class Italian Grand Prix held at Mugello, the sixth round of the 2019 season.
The Ducati rider from Terni deservedly won ahead of world ranking leader Marc Marquez and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso. A race worth remembering for the #9 of the two-wheeled "Red" who thus achieves the first success of his career, a success which at this point of the season should be worth his reconfirmation with Ducati.
A success for "Petrux" which starts from very far away, from Superstock to the world championship with Ioda, and then moves to Ducati with Team Pramac.
Not since Pileri's time had a rider from Terni won a world race on an Italian motorbike.
Both Marquez and Dovizioso had to surrender to the Terni native who is now fourth in the world rankings led by Marc Marquez, who has a 12 point lead over Dovizioso. The Spaniard has 115 points, compared to Dovizioso's 103, Rins' 88 and Petrucci's 82.
A race to forget for Valentino Rossi, who started from the third row and then finished the race in the gravel at Arrabbiata 2. A fall that relegated him to fifth place in the standings with 72 points.
Michele Pirro had a good race, seventh in front and behind Alex Rins' Suzuki, Takaaki Nakagami's Honda and Maverick Vinales' Yamaha.
