MotoGP 2021 Misano GP Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Suzuki – Joan Mir's second weekend of the season ended with a retirement on the Misano track, scene of the last Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The reigning World Champion was involved in a contact with Danilo Petrucci, an aspect that did not allow him to finish the race properly. Sixth position instead for Alex Rins, who was the protagonist of a good comeback.

Declarations Joan Mir GP Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Race

“It was a difficult weekend from the first day of free practice. The race started badly from the start, as I had a penalty for jump start. Starting from 18th place is not easy and in the way of sprinting quickly I moved the bike too early. Then came the error with the related crash. I want to apologize to the team for what happened. Fabio was by far the best this season and, although I am sad that I could not defend my title, I want to congratulate him and his entire team because they have been very impressive this year."

Statements Alex Rins GP Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Race

“First of all congratulations to Fabio. He had a fantastic year and today he won the title. For my part, I gave 100% in this race, but with fresh tires I struggled to catch up with the riders ahead of me. I wanted to get to the front but unfortunately it wasn't possible. Sixth place, considering the placement obtained in qualifying, is not bad. We will try to improve in the next seasonal event in Portimao."
