MotoGP | GP Le Mans FP1: Miller finishes in command, Bagnaia tenth
Marquez was the victim of a crash fortunately without consequences
MotoGP GP France Le Mans – Jack Miller wins the first free practice session of the French Grand Prix in the MotoGP class, fifth stage of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.
With a high chance of rain given for the afternoon, it was a crucial session. In fact, if it rains in FP2, no one will be able to improve and therefore direct access to Q2 may already have been decided.
The KTM rider stopped the horn at 1:31.449, preceding Luca Marini by 0.095s and Brad Binder by 0.218s.
Fourth time for Johann Zarco ahead of Alex Marquez and Joan Mir. Aleix Espargarò set the seventh fastest time, finishing ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Maverick Vinales. Under the checkered flag, Francesco Bagnaia finished in tenth place.
The two Yamaha riders close out of the top ten, with Fabio Quartararo 11th and Franco Morbidelli 13th. Upon returning after almost two months out due to the hand injury, Marc Marquez recorded the 12th fastest time. During the session the Spaniard was the victim of a crash, fortunately without consequences, then he took to the track with the new chassis developed by Kalex.
A crash forces Fabio Di Giannantonio to 17th place, ahead of Danilo Petrucci, riding the Ducati replacing Enea Bastianini, and Lorenzo Savadori.
