MotoGP | German GP Qualifying: A.Espargarò, “Better weekend than Assen”
"In qualifying I expected to be able to do something better, but I found traffic," said the Spaniard
MotoGP GP Germany Aprilia Gresini – Fifteenth place for Aleix Espargarò in qualifying for the German Grand Prix, ninth round of this 2019 MotoGP world championship.
Despite the physical difficulties resulting from Assen and a bike that was not in top shape, the Spaniard managed to maximize his result in qualifying at the Sachsenring, finishing ahead of his teammate. A positive day that the Iberian hopes to confirm also in the race scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
“The weekend is going much better than Assen, from a physical point of view I didn't expect a change in such a short time,” said Aleix Espargarò. “In the simulations with used tires I felt good. In qualifying I expected to be able to do something better, but I found traffic and wasn't able to put in a clean lap.
“Starting from the back here isn't ideal, given the few overtaking opportunities, but I can count on a good pace and I can be incisive when braking,” added the Spaniard. “I will certainly have to stay calm in the first laps, some of the opponents will be able to get ahead but over 30 laps management will be fundamental”.
