MotoGP GP Austria Preview – After the exciting GP in the Czech Republic, the MotoGP riders immediately return to the track, next stop Spielberg, for the Austrian Grand Prix.

After the double in Brno, Ducati arrives with great hopes on a track that is always very favorable at the moment. Since the Austrian track entered the MotoGP calendar two years ago, Ducati has always won. In 2016 Andrea Iannone finished ahead of his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, and the following year the Forlì native achieved a sprint victory over Marc Marquez.

It is precisely the current world championship leader who does not let the #04 and his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo sleep peacefully. This track suits the Borgo Panigale team, but the Honda has grown a lot and if last year the #93 managed to compete for the victory until the last corner, with a less performing bike than the Ducati, this year the match for victory could not be so obvious. Not to be underestimated is Cal Crutchlow, who seemed to be in very good shape in the last race. The British rider could 'replace', in terms of results, a constantly struggling Dani Pedrosa.

Between the two litigants the third is watching. The Brno tests, following last Sunday's Grand Prix, did not bring the hoped-for revolution, at least according to the words of Valentino Rossi, who at the end of the day admitted that he had tried something good, but that it will most likely not be used in Austria. On the other side of the garage, Maverick Vinales is probably in the most difficult moment since he entered the Yamaha orbit. The Spaniard has never managed to be truly competitive in the Czech Republic, and the unfortunate crash on the first lap certainly didn't improve the situation. Perhaps the issue of the technical chief for next year is also weighing on the morale of #25. The relationship with Ramon Forcada seems to be at a standstill and this most likely has a great impact. In Austria we are unlikely to see a Yamaha fighting for the podium but never say never.

Info Austrian GP

The Spielberg Grand Prix only entered the calendar two seasons ago. As already mentioned, Andrea Iannone on Ducati won the first edition, starting from pole, followed by Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. While last year 'DesmoDovi' achieved a spectacular victory over Marc Marquez. The track measures 4.7 km and has left and 7 right turns.
