MotoGP | Austrian GP FP1: Ducati monopoly with Dovizioso, Lorenzo and Petrucci, Yamaha crisis [Video]

MotoGP GP Austria Free Practice 1 – Ducati domination in the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix, eleventh stage of the 2018 MotoGP, a race that comes immediately after the one in Brno.

The best time went to Brno winner Andrea Dovizioso, who stopped the clock at a time of 1:23.830.

“DesmoDovi” preceded team-mate Jorge Lorenzo by 0.215s, overtaking him just under the checkered flag.

The Ducati hat-trick is completed by Team Pramac's Danilo Petrucci from Terni, riding the third Desmosedici GP18, 0.490s behind “Dovi”.

World ranking leader Marc Marquez took the Honda RC213V to fourth place, but more than half a second off the top, exactly +0.581s.

Andrea Iannone, who celebrated his 29th birthday yesterday, finished fifth and ahead of the Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow and the Ducati of Tito Rabat.

The Yamahas of Johann Zarco and Maverick Vinales close out the Top Ten, while Valentino Rossi is virtually out of Q2, having set the eleventh time.

For Rossi also a technical problem with the first bike (it seems the crown broke) and a troubled session. Here too the start of the weekend for the Iwata manufacturer is all uphill and victory seems more and more like a mirage, with Ducati and Honda clearly superior at the moment.
