MotoGP Day 1 GP Austria, Suzuki Racing – Mixed feelings in the Suzuki team after the first day of free practice for the Austrian Grand Prix. Alex Rins finished in thirteenth position while Joan Mir achieved the fifteenth fastest time.

Statements Alex Rins, Day 1 GP Austria

“I felt pretty good today. My pace on the used tire was good but once again, with the fresh tire I wasn't able to exploit it and improve much. Let's see what tomorrow will be like, it would be perfect to get straight into Q2, but if that's not possible then I'll give everything to get through Q1. The layout is much safer, but there is a big difference in the surface and it is quite bumpy on the new track. During FP2 we used the larger disc brake and I felt much better in the hard breaking areas”

Statements Joan Mir, Day 1 GP Austria

“I'm a bit disappointed with how it went today. I recorded my best lap towards the end of FP2, but it was canceled for exceeding the track limits. Then I had one last attempt left but I went wide, so I'm feeling quite frustrated. What I have to keep in mind is that I had the pace all day, and I had a good start to the day in FP1, so let's try not to get demoralized and focus on doing more good laps tomorrow."
