MotoGP | Australian GP Race, Aleix Espargarò: “From the beginning we suffered with the grip”

Australian GP Phillip Island MotoGP 2023 Aprilia – Aleix Espargarò finished the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, the 16th stage of the 2023 MotoGP, in eighth position.

Starting well from the second row, Aleix gradually lost contact with the first group, also due to a battle that lasted throughout the race to secure sixth place. The many overtakings, made and suffered, with Miller, Marc and Alex Marquez and in the end also Bezzecchi, progressively widened the gap between that group and the lead of the race. In the battle that lasted until the finish line Aleix finished eighth.

“It was a difficult race. From the start we suffered with grip, only in some sections of the track but enough to not be able to match the pace of those in front. I knew it would be a race in which to manage the tire well, I tried to do so at the beginning but it wasn't enough because, especially in the right-hand corners, the spin was very high. If tomorrow the Sprint was held in the dry we could have better opportunities, using the softer rear I was fast both in qualifying and in practice."
