We need more heart from Rossi, Stoner led over the problems

MotoGP: Exclusive interview with Mario Lega who talks about the world championship that has just started and the Rossi Ducati crisisMotoGP: Exclusive interview with Mario Lega who talks about the world championship that has just started and the Rossi Ducati crisis

We had the pleasure of interviewing exclusive Mario Lega, 250 World Champion in 1977 riding the Morbidelli, today a journalist collaborating with prestigious national newspapers. His experience allows him to "see" and "read" where many cannot; we asked him about the MotoGP world championship that had just started which saw Jorge Lorenzo's victory in Qatar and the Rossi Ducati debacle, a bike that won with Stoner and which now not only no longer wins, but is light years away from the podium. Here's what he told us.

First of all welcome Mario, after the first MotoGP race in Qatar who do you think is the favorite to fight for the title Stoner or Lorenzo?

“The fight seems restricted to the pair Lorenzo Stoner with Pedrosa at the window to take advantage of any skirmishes between the two. Casey's arm problem could be more serious than declared (I don't believe the story of the tight glove) while he should learn to do more laps in practice to test himself and the materials. I see Lorenzo as a little more solid, if he didn't give in on a track where there is such a long straight it's easy to foresee that on the twisty circuits his riding and the Yamaha chassis could have the upper hand."

Who did you see better in terms of riding between the two Hondas and the Spaniard's M1?

“Yamaha without a doubt, Stoner and Pedrosa rode well but there is always the unknown of this year's tires which seem to disadvantage the bikes of the winged manufacturer (chattering included)”

In your opinion, how was the spectacle offered by the MotoGP race? boring or better than last year's?

“The show was better, not due to the inclusion of the CRTs put in by Dorna just to not let Rossi finish last (LOL), but due to a substantial balance with the satellite Yamahas growing and on other tracks perhaps closer to the leading group , still fun even if there was no melee.”

Rossi-Ducati: in your opinion, were Valentino's words said to bring about an immediate split or to shake up the environment?

“I think to shake up the environment. which however was already quite a bit shaky, it's not as if the Borgo Panigale technicians were sitting idle, or perhaps to defend his ego who had never known humiliations of this level even at the beginning of his career . While he took credit for having "made" Yamaha without being an engineer, today he is unable to give indications for improvement and claims that he is not an engineer. Which of the two versions should be taken into consideration?"

How do you explain this lack of results from the Italian couple to date?

“First of all, Rossi never chose Ducati, after being kicked out by Yamaha it was the only opportunity he had (in fact he declared: it was easy to sign with Ducati). After Preziosi's compliments on how he knew how to analyze the data and consequently find the solutions, they find themselves still struggling with the driving position, he is unable to load the front end and makes the tank lengthen to stay further back, a contradiction that the It says a lot about the team's state of confusion. If, as he claims, they have not yet fulfilled his requests to make a bike that is stable, fast, easy to handle, has traction, respects the tires, etc. all that remains is to pass the drawing board to Geremy Burgess who will design a frame, knowing full well how Valentino wants it, who will then have Ducati pay for it if it really works."

In your opinion, where should we intervene to improve the situation? on the rider's riding style or on the bike or on both?

“If I knew the solution I would rush to Bologna to submit it to Claudio Domenicali, Meanwhile, more heart would be needed on the part of the rider, Stoner rode over problems and was committed even after bloody crashes, Ducati churned out more material in one year than in its entire history, annoying Stoner himself who had all requests rejected for budgetary reasons. Rossi is going through the same ordeal as Melandri, who was advised to see a psychologist. Bitter judgment for Ducati, they didn't ask themselves why no rider knew how to ride the Ducati other than the "blonde boy". Now Filippo Preziosi has also asked himself: would Stoner make a home with the current bike and all the new modifications made? Would you risk getting rear-ended by Espargaro's CRT? A more than legitimate question..."

DORNA'S VERSION – Carmelo Ezpeleta is not sitting idle, Valentino Rossi is needed in the championship, even more so if he is a winner. In 2010, it was enough for the Doctor to miss a handful of matches due to injury to see television ratings and the number of tickets sold decrease. The contract between Dorna and Mediaset should also expire at the end of the year, an agreement which has a value - it is rumored - of around 15 million euros. Without the number 46 the attractiveness, and therefore the figure, is destined to decline. From an economic point of view, MotoGP is not in good shape and the loss of its symbol would be a very hard blow. The big boss of the world championship is already running for cover, so as not to let Valentino escape, perhaps in the direction of the four wheels.

THE UNCLE was there, is there and will always be there as a scammer!!!!
and then 9 titles are waved ahhahahaah

Marco@ is the business and he alone has as many fans as all the others put together and he makes money turn over figures like no one else has ever managed to do and here it is a huge phenomenon, give him an advantage to make him win? It's an obligation!
Unfortunately this is how it is and we can't do anything about it.

those who watch the event from a sporting point of view, which are the vast majority of fans, don't care about business. we are only interested in seeing the races and that the best one wins. as regards the number of red fans it is only a national parameter. How much money he makes red turns is his problem and that of his sponsors, I'm interested in whether he makes the wheels of his bike turn faster than the others.

I'm sorry, you felt like a poor girl... I thought women were more intelligent than us little men... but evidently there are exceptions. Typhus is an ugly beast.
to deflect my provocation you throw it at chauvinism, well done or perhaps I should say good!!!

he may know a little... but the fact is that in the first year with the same bike and tires he took pay from Lorenzo...
the first teammate he had (the others were wingmen) beat him
as for the yamaha leaders when valentino said either me or him, they chose him….

The evil of Ducati in my opinion for me is called Guereschi I don't think he's capable of leading a team like Ducati and with a rider called Rossi (Brivio, I suppose they teach) Don't hold it against me but unfortunately the results don't give them right not even when he was in SBK

bibo .but which year are you referring to? in 2008 and 2009 Rossi won, in 2010 Valentino missed 4 races and had a shoulder injury. For those who think it could have been an excuse, ask Stoner that he lost the race for a glove. Stoner says it's true, Vale says it and it's an excuse. Zero objectivity

for the good of Ducati, and above all of Vale and of us sportsmen, please release him from the contract immediately and let him start a satellite team with a Yamaha!!! we would see a bit of a show and he would have a bit more fun!!
